Job summary

Kindred is seeking a cleaner based in Witham to join our education-building team. You will perform general cleaning tasks, including dusting, vacuuming, mopping, and sanitising surfaces, while also handling deeper cleaning and maintenance as needed.

You will follow health and safety regulations (COSHH), operate cleaning equipment safely, and report hazards. The role requires independence and the ability to work with minimal supervision, with a fixed shift pattern Monday to Friday, 11:00–13:30.

Qualifications

Able to complete the physical demands of the role with reasonable adjustments.
To be able to follow instructions (including written) and work safely for periods of time on their own.
Complete tasks within a specified timeframe.
An ability to communicate in English, although English as a first language is not a requirement.

Responsibilities

General Cleaning Tasks: Dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping floors; Cleaning and sanitising surfaces, touchpoints, and furniture; Emptying bins and waste disposal; Replenishing supplies such as soap and towels.
Specialist & Deep Cleaning: Periodic deep-cleaning tasks (carpet cleaning, polishing floors); Using cleaning materials suitable for different surfaces.
Health, Safety & Compliance: Safe operation of cleaning equipment; Following COSHH and safety regulations; Reporting maintenance issues or hazards.
Teamwork & Independence: Work independently with minimal supervision; Support colleagues to maintain high cleanliness standards.
Customer Care & Presentation: Ensure cleaning reflects a professional, welcoming environment; Be polite and respectful in areas with staff, clients or visitors.

Job description

As a cleaner with Kindred, you will play an important role in creating a safe and welcoming environment for staff, visitors, and service users. Your duties will include: General Cleaning Tasks:

Dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping floors.
Cleaning and sanitising surfaces, touchpoints, and furniture.
Emptying bins and ensuring waste is disposed of correctly.
Replenishing supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet rolls.

Specialist & Deep Cleaning

Carrying out periodic deep-cleaning tasks (e.g., carpet cleaning, polishing floors).
Using appropriate cleaning materials for different surfaces to maintain standards and protect equipment.

Health, Safety & Compliance

Using cleaning equipment safely (e.g., buffers, steamers, vacuums), ensuring proper storage after use.
Following health & safety regulations, including safe use of cleaning chemicals (COSHH).
Reporting any maintenance issues, hazards, or damages promptly.

Teamwork & Independence

Working independently to complete tasks on time with minimal supervision.
Supporting colleagues as needed to ensure high overall cleanliness standards.

Customer Care & Presentation

Ensuring cleaning standards reflect Kindred's commitment to a professional, inclusive, and welcoming environment.
Being polite and respectful when working in areas where staff, clients, or visitors are present.
