Overview

Database Engineer with SQL and C#

Our Client is a City based bank – looking to recruit a Database Engineer with at least 3 to 5 years expertise of developing and supporting SQL and C#.

Responsibilities
  • Software Development: Analyse issues raised by in-house systems (e.g., CORE, SharePoint interface, Equation end of day cycle) and translate business requirements into solutions based on system definition documents. Apply proficiency in advanced 4GL programming languages across the full development life cycle.
  • Database Support: Support budgeting and financial planning processes for Finance, including loading and refreshing data; manage front-end functionality to amend hierarchical structures; debug and analyse Hyperion issues raised by Finance; liaise with Finance to ensure smooth Hyperion operation; build data flows within SQL via SSIS; introduce new fields and data types in CORE.
  • Integration & Reporting: Integrate with the Bank’s sub-systems using data abstraction and connectivity layers (e.g., ODBC, ADO.NET); build reports using Hyperion Interactive Reports; ensure the environment runs optimally and follow housekeeping procedures.
  • SharePoint Integration: Integrate SharePoint and Forms with Equation to automate processes and reduce duplicate entry; use web services to connect cutting-edge technology with legacy systems such as Equation.
  • End of Day Cycle: Provide second and third level support during the end of day cycle; analyse and rectify problems in independent and team scenarios; take ownership and deliver timely solutions; provide out-of-hours support as needed.
  • Risk & Regulatory Duties: Maintain knowledge of regulatory requirements; adhere to Risk and Compliance policies; report breaches promptly; execute controls to minimise risk; identify new risks and escalate as required.
  • Training & Competence: Complete annual mandatory regulatory training and pursue recommended technical and behavioural competencies.
  • Conduct: Act in accordance with the FCA/PRA Code of Conduct.
  • Business Continuity: Fulfil all prescribed business continuity requirements as instructed by management.
Qualifications / Experience
  • Degree level qualified or equivalent.
  • SQL Programming.
  • C# Software development.
Knowledge and Skills
  • C# Programming to a high level of proficiency.

  • Data warehouse design concepts (Inmon or Kimball).
Engagement

This is a Full-Time Contract initially for 6 months – but likely to become permanent.

Compensation & Location

Salary: £55K - £60K per annum. The Client is based in the City of London.
