Job summary

Modis International Ltd is seeking a Database Administrator to build resilient databases and support a high-availability platform in the UK. The role focuses on stability, performance, and future-proofing data environments while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

You will manage SQL Server and MySQL instances, implement backups, address incidents, and contribute to continuous improvement of data infrastructure in a flexible, hybrid work setting.

Qualifications

• Experience in a Database Administrator role.
• Strong SQL Server experience and ideally some MySQL.
• Linux and shell scripting experience.
• Experience with high-availability technologies (AGs, replication, ProxySQL).

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server (and some MySQL) environments.
• Monitor performance, availability, and capacity.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex database incidents.
• Remediate legacy SQL environments.
• Maintain backup and recovery strategies.
• Provide 2nd and 3rd line support.
• Collaborate with development teams.
• Document processes and standards.
• Participate in infrequent paid out-of-hours support.
