Job summary

Verisk Claims Solutions is seeking a Database Engineer to develop, tune and support the databases behind our insurance claims systems, ensuring production data remains accurate and reliable. You will join a team of six developers, craft SQL, resolve data issues and contribute to a major data migration and modernization program.

The role is ideal for someone who enjoys efficient SQL, data problem solving and improving processes through standards and automation.

Qualifications

• Strong SQL skills in SQL Server or PostgreSQL, including database design.
• Programming or scripting experience.
• Experience investigating and resolving data issues.
• A methodical, detail-oriented approach to changing production data.
• A love of technology and a desire to keep learning.

Responsibilities

• Develop database code, including stored procedures, functions and schema changes.
• Investigate production data incidents and apply tested, controlled data fixes.
• Diagnose and improve query and database performance.
• Build automated data checks, monitoring and alerts that catch issues early.
• Test application compatibility during database patching and version upgrades.
• Help define and apply database development and documentation standards.
• Work within the SDLC using Git, Jira and CI/CD pipelines.
• Use AI-assisted development tools for coding, code reviews and troubleshooting.
