Job summary

BNP Paribas Personal Finance is seeking a PostgreSQL specialist to support and improve in-house and third-party PostgreSQL Server solutions in a cloud environment. You will join a small team and help expand capabilities as the business grows.

This role includes migrating from on-premise SQL Server to PostgreSQL in the cloud, ensuring performance, security and alignment with IT governance, and contributing to disaster recovery planning and testing.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of relational database design fundamentals.
• Understanding of continuity management including backups, incident, problem, change and capacity management.
• Experience with PostgreSQL 15 and production database administration.

Responsibilities

• Support and maintain the PostgreSQL estate in a cloud environment.
• Provide PostgreSQL expertise to implement solutions meeting standards and best practices.
• Assist migration from on-premise SQL Server to PostgreSQL in cloud.
• Ensure optimal database performance via monitoring, tuning and optimisation.
• Maintain database security in line with policies.
• Contribute to Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery plans.

The Role:

To provide comprehensive support for the build, maintenance, monitoring and improvement of in-house bespoke and third party provided PostgreSQL Server solutions.

You will be a valuable addition to a small team, who are looking to expand due to business growth.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support and maintain the PostgreSQL estate in a cloud environment.
• Take a proactive role in projects, providing PostgreSQL expertise to implement solutions that meet company/industry standards and best practices.
• Support the business during its move from an on-premise SQL Server environment to PostgreSQL in cloud.
• Ensure optimal database performance through proactive monitoring, analysis, tuning and optimisation.
• Maintain database security in line with legislation and internal policies
• Work with the IT Team to establish robust Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery plans
• Participate in the annual Disaster Recovery test

Skills & Attributes:

• Knowledge of relational database design fundamentals
• Knowledge of database components and capabilities
• Understanding of Continuity Mgmt including backups, Incident Mgmt, Problem Mgmt, Change Mgmt and Capacity Mgmt
• Knowledge of HA and DR
• Knowledge of database best practices
• A breadth of experience in Production database installation, support and administration
• Experience with PostgreSQL 15
• Service driven and adept at finding viable solutions to issues
