Job summary

Morson Human Resources Limited is partnering with a technology-led business in Manchester to hire a Data Tech Lead who will head a small Data Engineering team while remaining hands-on.

Reporting to the CDO, you will shape data engineering practices, drive the data roadmap, and balance people leadership with technical delivery. The role offers hybrid working with 3 days in the office and a competitive package.

Qualifications

• Previous experience leading a Data Engineering team.
• Proven ability to coach engineers and build high-performing teams.
• Strong SQL experience.
• Commercial experience using AWS in data projects.
• Solid understanding of data engineering architectures and modern data platforms.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
• Ownership mindset and drive for continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop a small team of Data Engineers.
• Build and maintain a high-performing engineering culture centred on ownership and continuous improvement.
• Provide technical direction across the data environment while remaining hands-on when required.
• Support architecture, solution design and technical decision-making.
• Work with the CDO and stakeholders to shape the data roadmap.
• Set and maintain high engineering standards for quality, reliability and maintainability.
• Encourage knowledge sharing and collaboration within the team.
