Data Storage Engineer

Inside IR35

Working closely with the Head of Storage, you will take ownership of the management, maintenance, and strategic direction of all storage-related technologies across EMEA and international regions. This is a highly technical and business-critical role, ensuring the bank’s data remains secure, resilient, and compliant with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside the Head of Storage to manage, maintain, and support all storage technologies across EMEA and beyond.

• Act as a subject matter expert, providing technical leadership and oversight for all online storage technologies, including associated connectivity.

• Contribute to the strategic roadmap, architecture vision, and standards for storage solutions within the team’s remit.

• Deputise for the Head of Storage when required, providing people management and workload prioritisation.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders throughout the organisation, ensuring effective communication and delivery.

• Uphold the highest standards of operational excellence, ensuring data is protected against loss or corruption.

• Deep expertise across block, file, and object storage technologies, including:

  • EMC Unity

  • EMC VNX (File)

  • EMC ECS

  • EMC Isilon

  • EMC PowerStore

  • Cisco MDS fabric switches

  • Pure Storage

• Excellent understanding of SAN technologies and data resilience principles.

• Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and adapt to evolving technologies.

Desirable skills

• Working knowledge of EMC Networker and IBM TSM.

• Experience with Rubrik.

• Scripting skills (PowerShell or Python), including use of REST APIs.

• Strong Excel skills for reporting and analysis.
