Job summary

Skipton Building Society is seeking a Solutions Architect – Data to shape how data informs member outcomes. You will design end-to-end solutions across a complex landscape, bringing deep data expertise to ensure governance, quality and alignment with long-term strategy.

This role is hybrid, with three days in Skipton and two from home. You’ll collaborate with engineering, product and analytics teams to translate strategy into deliverable designs, champion modern data platforms, and balance

Qualifications

• Strong solution architecture across applications, platforms and data ecosystems.
• Deep understanding of how data supports business capabilities and decision-making.
• Experience delivering enterprise-scale solutions balancing delivery with data quality and governance.
• Knowledge of data modelling, integration patterns, pipelines and information flows.
• Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms and analytics technologies.
• Proven collaboration across business, engineering, architecture and analytics in agile environments.
• Excellent stakeholder management and ability to explain complex concepts.

Responsibilities

• Turn strategic ambitions into practical, deliverable solutions with engineering and product teams.
• Design end-to-end technology solutions aligned to enterprise architecture and strategy.
• Collaborate with product owners, delivery leads, and engineering to translate complex requirements into designs.
• Guide technical decisions balancing short-term delivery with long-term sustainability.
• Provide architectural governance across the delivery lifecycle.
• Identify risks, trade-offs, and opportunities to improve simplicity and reuse.
• Champion modern architecture approaches, including API-led integration and cloud-native design.
