Job summary

Capstone Investment Advisors is seeking a data-focused professional in London to join the Data and AI group. You’ll integrate diverse data sources, work with quants and engineers, and develop data-driven decisions for investment strategies.

Qualifications

• Degree with strong mathematical and computing content (e.g., CS, math, physics, stats).
• Experience with structured and unstructured data.
• Excellent communication skills across data professionals.
• Prior experience in the investment management industry.
• Familiarity with language models, vector databases and prompt engineering.
• CFA qualification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support analytical needs of enterprise and investment teams, including data cleansing, mapping, statistical inference, feature engineering and bespoke data visualization methods.
• Partner with data engineers to evaluate and reconcile datasets produced by different systems — pricing, risk, execution, treasury — into consistent schemas.
• Design and build a canonical internal security master and reference data layer.
• Design and build a firmwide internal data catalogue and field-level metadata master.
• Build firmwide data-quality tools for automated checks and drift alerts.
• Analyze, design and curate core data products that integrate into our central data and AI platform.
• Partner with AI engineers so each data domain is AI ready.
• Curate and present relevant research and technical documentation to build and maintain an up-to-date knowledge store.

Overview:

Capstone’s Data and AI group is at the forefront of innovation, leveraging data and AI to drive investment strategies. We integrate diverse data sources and AI solutions to uncover unique insights and alpha opportunities. Our team collaborates closely with portfolio managers, quants and engineers, to develop data-driven decisions. The ideal candidate possesses exceptional problem-solving skills, collaborative mentality, and an ability to bring innovative ideas to life. The role offers great exposure to many and varied areas of the hedge fund.

• Curate and present relevant research and technical documentation to build and maintain an up-to-date, accurate and accessible knowledge store

Our future colleague has these skills:

• Strong academic record and higher education degree with high mathematical and computing content e.g. computer science, mathematics, physics, statistics or another disciplines involving technical and quantitative analysis techniques
• Experience working with structured and unstructured data
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with, and inspire, a wide cross section of data professionals.
• Prior experience in the investment management industry
• Familiarity of language models, vector databases and prompt engineering
• CFA qualified a plus

The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case‑by‑case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance‑based incentives.

In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.
