Job summary

Sage is hiring a Data Scientist in London to develop and deploy AI/ML solutions that impact customers and business metrics. You will work with a diverse team to advance NLP, CV, and recommender systems while leveraging Azure to scale models and enable data-driven decisions.

The role requires strong Python/R/SQL skills, experience with modern ML libraries, and the ability to collaborate across data, engineering, and product teams.

Qualifications

  • A Data Scientist with a strong record of delivering AI/ML solutions.
  • Experience with models like XGBoost, Random Forests, LSTM, transformers.
  • Proficient in NLP or computer vision and recommender systems.
  • Fluent in Python, R and SQL with large structured and unstructured data.
  • Experience using Git-based collaboration platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Employ advanced AI/ML methods to address business problems (NLP, CV, recommender systems).
  • Apply Azure services to deliver scalable cloud-based solutions.
  • Act as subject matter expert and advise on DS initiatives.
  • Represent DS in senior discussions and promote evidence-based decisions.
  • Collaborate with data engineers and ML engineers to prepare data and deploy models.
  • Ensure models meet ethical, technical and regulatory standards.
  • Resolve model performance issues and mentor junior team members.
  • Stay at the forefront of data science and NLP and communicate insights to the business.

Your new role:

As a Data Scientist, you will play a key role in shaping, crafting, and implementing innovative AI/ML solutions. Your role will include:

  • Employing advanced AI/ML and statistical methods to address a variety of business problems, including NLP, Computer Vision, and recommender systems.
  • Applying Azure services to deliver scalable, cloud‑based solutions.
  • Functioning as a subject matter expert in data science to provide counsel on various initiatives within the company.
  • Representing the data science function in senior‑level discussions and driving a culture of evidence‑based decision‑making.
  • Collaborating with data engineers to prepare high‑quality datasets and with ML engineers to deploy and optimise models.
  • Ensuring models meet technical, ethical, and regulatory standards.
  • Resolving complex model performance issues and guiding junior team members.
  • Remaining at the forefront of data science and NLP through assessing emerging methods and conveying insights clearly to the business.
