Job summary

Anson McCade is hiring a Data Science and AI Consultant to join its growing technology and transformation team, supporting major UK programmes across the Defence and Security sector.

You will work on complex, mission-focused challenges where data science, ML, AI and emerging technologies help clients make better decisions, improve operational outcomes and deliver lasting impact. The role covers the full lifecycle with collaboration across engineers, designers, delivery leads and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience applying data science, ML or AI techniques in Defence/public sector
• Proficiency with Python to analyse data, develop models or build AI solutions
• Experience with ML frameworks and cloud ML services

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Data Science and AI Consultant to join a growing technology and transformation team supporting some of the UK’s biggest and most ambitious programmes across the Defence and Security sector.

This role offers the opportunity to work on complex, mission-focused challenges where data science, machine learning, AI and emerging technologies can help clients make better decisions, improve operational outcomes and deliver lasting impact.

The opportunity:

• Apply data science, machine learning and AI techniques to solve complex client problems
• Research, prototype and develop innovative solutions that deliver real-world impact
• Work across the full lifecycle, from understanding user needs and exploring data through to building, evaluating, scaling and managing AI-enabled services
• Develop and apply emerging technologies, including generative AI and agentic AI
• Produce high-quality technical outputs, analysis, reports and presentations
• Work closely with multidisciplinary teams including engineers, designers, delivery leads, analysts and client stakeholders

What we're looking for from you:

• Hands‑on experience applying data science, machine learning or AI techniques within Defence and Security, the wider public sector, industry or academia
• Practical experience using Python or equivalent tools to analyse data, develop models or build AI-enabled solutions
• Strong understanding of data science and machine learning approaches, including statistical modelling, supervised and unsupervised learning, deep learning, transformers, generative AI and agentic AI patterns
• Ability to assess the suitability, limitations and risks of different AI/ML techniques for real-world client use cases
• Applying AI/ML techniques to text, audio, imagery, video, geospatial, graph or multimodal data
• Experience with machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn or Hugging Face
• Experience using cloud-based data science and machine learning services across AWS, Azure, GCP or equivalent platforms
• Strong software engineering practices including version control, testing, code review and CI/CD
• Experience with MLOps or workflow tools such as MLflow, Kubeflow, Argo or equivalent
• Experience scaling models or analytical services for enterprise or operational use
