Job summary

Elsevier is seeking a strategic leader to define and drive AI and data science strategy across ML, NLP, search, and generative AI. You will guide teams through experimentation to production, align work to product goals, and influence senior stakeholders to deliver measurable business outcomes.

You will shape roadmaps, foster scientific rigor, and champion responsible AI across a broad portfolio, partnering with cross-functional leaders to maximize impact.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in data science, AI/ML, NLP, information retrieval, statistics, or related quantitative field.
• Expertise across modern data science methods, including production AI systems.
• Hands-on experience delivering AI-powered products (LLMs, RAG, semantic search).
• Proven success leading and developing technical teams in complex product, platform, or research environments.
• Experience working with large, complex datasets and building scalable, production-ready AI/ML systems.
• Exceptional people leadership, prioritization, communication, and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

• Set AI and data science strategy across ML, NLP, search, and generative AI; align with product goals and customer needs.
• Lead and develop high-performing teams by coaching talent and building an inclusive culture.
• Deliver advanced AI and knowledge-discovery systems across the lifecycle, including LLMs and domain-enriched AI.
• Drive evaluation and AI quality with robust frameworks, metrics, experimentation practices, and responsible AI standards.
• Influence across product, technology, and business by shaping roadmaps and aligning teams on impact.
