About us

Judicium Education exists to keep schools and trusts safe by providing trusted professional services that focus on quality, reliability, and scale. We believe in the power of our people and encourage self-driven innovation. We work with you to drive your career development, providing you with learning opportunities and great specialist support.

About the job

We have an exciting opportunity for a Data Services Team Leader to join our growing team.

This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for ensuring the delivery of a high-quality, efficient and client-focused service. You will oversee the day-to-day operation of the Data Services help desk, ensuring client queries, tickets and requests are managed effectively, prioritised appropriately and seen through to resolution. To support the effective delivery of the service, you will lead, support and develop a team of Data Protection Consultants, providing direction, coaching and oversight to maintain high standards of performance, quality and client care.

Success in this role requires both strong people leadership and a solid professional understanding of compliance, advisory or consultancy services. We are looking for someone who can effectively manage service delivery, drive accountability and make informed day-to-day operational decisions that ensure client queries, projects and service requests are managed efficiently from receipt through to resolution. You will do this through the leadership, development and support of a high-performing team.

You will be responsible for overseeing service delivery, team workload, service quality and client outcomes, ensuring that work is prioritised effectively, completed within agreed timescales and delivered to a consistently high standard. You will act as a senior point of support, providing coaching, guidance and direction, while also managing complex client matters and driving continuous improvement across the service.

Day-to-day, you will:

  • Take ownership of the day-to-day performance of the helpdesk, ensuring client queries, tickets, projects and service requests are progressed efficiently and completed within agreed service standards.
  • Monitor workloads, service levels and team capacity, proactively addressing bottlenecks and competing priorities.
  • Ensure work allocation and prioritisation activities support effective service delivery and positive client outcomes.
  • Lead, motivate and develop a team of Data Protection Consultants, creating a culture of accountability, collaboration and service excellence.
  • Act as an escalation point for complex, sensitive or high-risk client matters, providing practical advice and clear direction.
  • Review consultant work and provide constructive feedback to ensure advice remains accurate, pragmatic and consistent.
  • Hold regular one-to-one meetings and performance conversations, supporting employee development and managing performance where required.
  • Coach and mentor team members to build capability, confidence and technical expertise.
  • Use management information and operational reporting to identify trends, highlight risks and support service and performance improvements.
  • Lead service improvement initiatives, implementing changes that improve quality, consistency and efficiency.
  • Manage client feedback, concerns and complaints, taking ownership until a successful resolution is achieved.
  • Work closely with managers and colleagues across the business to support strategic objectives and service development.
  • Maintain your own technical knowledge and continue to undertake compliance responsibilities where required, including audits, advisory work, training delivery and client support.
About you
  • Experience leading and managing a professional, advisory, consultancy, compliance or operational support team.
  • A proactive approach to service management, with the confidence to take ownership, make decisions and ensure work continues to progress rather than stall.
  • Experience managing employee performance, development, workload planning and service delivery.
  • Experience making day-to-day operational decisions relating to workload prioritisation, resource allocation and the effective management of service delivery.
  • Strong professional knowledge gained within data protection and compliance.
  • A track record of driving work through to completion, maintaining momentum and ensuring commitments are delivered.
  • Experience managing competing priorities, overseeing service queues or ticket-based workflows and ensuring work is completed within agreed standards.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to engage, motivate, develop and hold team members accountable for performance and service standards.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to provide direction, challenge where required and influence positive outcomes.
  • Experience reviewing technical or professional work to ensure quality, consistency and accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with confidence making decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience using performance data and management information to drive improvements and achieve service objectives.
  • The ability to take ownership of situations, make decisions and ensure issues are resolved effectively rather than simply escalated.
  • Experience within education, compliance, legal, regulatory or consultancy sectors would be advantageous.
