Job description

Please note: this vacancy is a 12 month fixed term contract

At Lloyds Clinical, protecting the confidentiality, integrity and security of patient and colleague data is at the heart of what we do. We're looking for an experienced Data Protection Officer to join our Quality & Governance team on a 12-month fixed term contract, providing expert leadership and oversight across all aspects of information governance, data protection and GDPR compliance.

About the Role

You’ll take ownership of Lloyds Clinical’s data protection and information governance framework, ensuring we continue to meet our obligations under GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Caldicott Principles. Acting as the organisation’s subject matter expert, you’ll provide practical guidance across the business, helping to minimise risk while embedding a strong culture of data protection and compliance.

This is a varied and visible role where you’ll lead on policy development, audits, risk assessments and Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), whilst overseeing data subject requests, breach management and regulatory reporting. You’ll work closely with stakeholders across the business, including IT, Patient Services and senior leaders, to ensure robust controls are in place and that data protection remains a key consideration in business decision-making.

Alongside this, you’ll drive awareness and engagement through training and education programmes, helping colleagues understand their responsibilities and promoting a privacy-by-design approach across all areas of the organisation.

Why Lloyds Clinical?

We have a lot to offer to not only the 100,000 patients we support, but also to our valued employees. Lloyds Clinical has a wide range of exciting opportunities for passionate professionals across nursing, patient services, compounding, pharmacy and warehousing. These roles come with fantastic benefits including:

  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Company bonus scheme
  • Outstanding training & development programmes
  • Up to £1200 refer a friend bonus
  • Full support from our employee assistance programme including a health and well-being app
  • Savings and discounts at multiple retailers through our rewards portal
About You

We’re looking for a confident and proactive data protection professional with a strong working knowledge of GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 and information governance best practice. You’ll have previous experience operating in a Data Protection, Information Governance or Privacy role, with the ability to interpret complex regulations and translate them into practical business solutions.

You’ll be comfortable conducting audits, managing compliance activities, supporting investigations and providing clear, credible advice to stakeholders at all levels. Strong communication, influencing and analytical skills are essential, as is the ability to work independently whilst building collaborative relationships across the business.

A recognised Data Protection qualification is highly desirable, and experience within healthcare, regulated environments or working alongside a Caldicott Guardian would be advantageous.
