Job summary

Octopus Electric Vehicles, part of the Octopus Energy Group, seeks a second Data Protection Manager to support rapid growth in the UK. You will shape data protection strategy, lead DPIAs, RoPA, LIAs, SARs, and manage breaches while collaborating with software teams to deliver compliant solutions.

You will ensure compliance with UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 and PECR, and help expand capabilities across the business. Clear communication and training across teams are essential.

Qualifications

• A passion for Data Protection and a proven track record of delivering compliance.
• Experience with software product teams building bespoke software.
• Familiarity with Google Workspace and Slack.
• The ability to explain Data Protection concepts clearly.
• Forward-thinking and proactive with ownership of initiatives.
• Experience working under pressure with high attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Develop our data protection strategy, policies, frameworks and tools to ensure compliance.
• Advise on data privacy matters for teams across the company.
• Maintain records and documentation with DPIAs, RoPA, and LIAs.
• Own and refine Subject Rights Management processes (SARs and data rights).
• Manage breaches including investigation, reporting and ICO communication.
• Contribute to growth by supporting data protection agreements with business units.
• Manage risk via due diligence for third-party suppliers and vendors.
• Raise awareness through data protection training and campaigns.
• Monitor evolving privacy regulations and report on compliance and risk.
