Job Purpose

Direct the initiation, discovery and delivery of work on multiple projects, with vying deadlines, while with a focus on data and BI delivery. Utilise existing industry knowledge and change management skills to prioritise the needs of project stakeholders and define optimal business and / or technological processes and requirements. Take ownership of smaller-scale projects and enhancements. Lead the improvement and evolution of Ascot's Data Business Analysis tooling and processes. Assist the Business Analysis Manager in evolving the Change Management Framework and promoting its benefits across the Group.

Detailed Duties
  • Ensure that all requirements captured meet the business needs and success criteria with a focus on controlling scope, budget and timescales.
  • Extensive stakeholder engagement with peers and customers. Ensure stakeholder requirements are clear and understood through techniques such as data models, data flows, report specifications and wireframes. Understand and define requirements through data analysis including identifying data sources, data quality assessments, data lineage and data governance. Excellent visual presentation skills with the ability to dissect complex issues and articulate options / solutions to stakeholders.
  • Assist stakeholders in making the recommended changes, including helping to resolve any issues. Where necessary, act as a 'translator' between IT & customer needs to ensure clarity of what is required.
  • Assist stakeholders in the embedding and handover of projects into business as usual. Lead the development and advancement of the Business Analysis framework with respect to data delivery. Contribute positively to Ascot's Business Analyst Forum, presenting areas of discussion to improve knowledge sharing and performance. Assist with the training, development and mentoring of other Business Analysts within the team.
Person Specification
  • Highly professional, energetic, diplomatic, calm, pragmatic and solution-oriented.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of the Lloyd's & London Market and its data. Demonstrate the confidence and communication skills required to work with people at all levels of the company. Exceptional problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrate the behaviours and values always expected from others. Ability to work between functional and technical teams.
  • Self-starter who can think and act proactively. A willingness to be flexible and react appropriately to changing and / or conflicting demands.
  • Knowledge of data technologies SQL, SSRS and Power BI as well as general relational database and reporting architectures. Strong Microsoft skills, in particular Visio, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Possess working knowledge of modern delivery and collaboration tools and how to maximise their effectiveness (e.G. Miro, Test Monitor, Azure DevOps, JIRA, Confluence etc.).
