This is a hands-on delivery role for someone who can investigate data issues, establish clear ownership and turn findings into practical improvement plans. You'll work closely with business stakeholders, software teams and governance leads to address recurring problems and demonstrate measurable progress.

The role

You'll take ownership of data quality improvement activity, bringing structure and prioritisation to issues identified through stakeholder engagement, system assessments and existing discovery work.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assessing data issues and their impact on operational processes, reporting and digital services.
  • Maintaining a central register of issues, risks, accountable owners and remediation actions.
  • Developing a prioritised improvement roadmap, supported by clear measures of success.
  • Working with technical teams to identify root causes and embed sustainable fixes within applications and data pipelines.
  • Establishing ownership and stewardship responsibilities across critical data assets.
  • Reviewing metadata and data lineage, identifying gaps and agreeing corrective actions.
  • Ensuring improvement activity follows relevant policies and governance processes.
  • Delivering practical guidance, workshops and training to help teams maintain better data standards.
What you'll bring
  • A background in data management, data quality or data governance, with demonstrable responsibility for delivering improvements.
  • Experience working alongside software engineering teams within an agile delivery, consultancy or systems integration environment.
  • Strong understanding of data quality measures, including accuracy, completeness, consistency, validity, uniqueness, timeliness, availability and integrity.
  • Experience defining repeatable quality checks and working with technical teams to automate measurement.
  • Practical capability in process mapping, data-flow analysis, stakeholder discovery and root-cause investigation.
