Job description

CRH is a global leader in building materials solutions, and Tarmac is a leading sustainable building materials and construction solutions business in the UK.

Project Falcon | Transform the Future of Data at Tarmac

Are you a data leader who thrives on turning complexity into clarity? Do you enjoy bringing people, processes and technology together to deliver transformational change? If so, we'd love to hear from you.

We're looking for a Data Lead to take ownership of the data workstream for Project Falcon, Tarmac's flagship transformation programme. This is a high-impact role at the heart of a business-critical change initiative, where you'll shape how data is governed, migrated and managed across the organisation.

Working with senior stakeholders, business owners, technology teams and delivery partners, you'll ensure the right data is available, trusted and ready to support new ways of working across SAP, Salesforce and our operational platforms.

What You'll Be Doing

As Data Lead, you'll be responsible for driving the successful delivery of the programme's end-to-end data strategy and migration activities. You'll:

  • Own and deliver the integrated Falcon data roadmap, managing milestones, dependencies, risks and delivery outcomes.
  • Lead a team of three Data Analysts, providing direction, coaching and quality oversight.
  • Champion Tarmac's data governance and delivery standards throughout the programme lifecycle.
  • Define data ownership, stewardship, standards and acceptance criteria with business stakeholders.
  • Oversee data discovery, profiling and quality assessments across multiple source systems.
  • Govern data mapping, transformation, cleansing and reconciliation activities to ensure accuracy and integrity.
  • Coordinate business, technical and supplier teams to align data requirements with process and solution design.
  • Plan and manage migration cycles, mock loads, dress rehearsals, cutover activities and hypercare support.
  • Provide clear reporting on data readiness, risks and quality issues to programme leadership and governance forums.
  • Drive continuous improvement, leaving behind stronger governance, controls and reusable best practices for future deployment waves.
What We're Looking For
  • You’ll bring a blend of strategic thinking, hands‑on delivery expertise and accomplished stakeholder management skills.
  • We’re particularly interested in people who are:
  • Accountable and proactive, taking ownership and surfacing risks early
  • Structured and organised, able to navigate complex programmes and competing priorities
  • Influential communicators who build alignment across business and technical teams
  • Analytical problem‑solvers who can separate root causes from symptoms
  • Collaborative leaders who bring teams together to achieve shared outcomes
  • Focused on quality, governance and continuous improvement
Your Experience

You’ll have proven experience in:

  • Leading data workstreams within large-scale business and technology transformation programmes.
  • Data governance, stewardship, quality management, lineage, cataloguing and control frameworks.
  • Data migration planning, source-to-target mapping, cleansing, reconciliation and readiness assessment.
  • Managing analysts and coordinating third‑party suppliers against critical programme deadlines.
  • Working closely with senior stakeholders, architects, integration teams and system implementation partners.
  • Reporting programme readiness, risks and decisions within formal governance structures.
  • Supporting testing, cutover and hypercare activities from a data perspective.

Experience in any of the following would be a significant advantage:

  • SAP ECC or SAP S/4HANA programmes
  • Logistics, fleet, order‑and‑dispatch or operational platforms
  • Construction materials, manufacturing or industrial environments
Qualifications
  • Degree qualified in Data, Information Systems, Computer Science, Mathematics, Business or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Relevant certifications in data management, governance, architecture, analysis or project delivery are desirable.
