Job summary

Welsh Ambulance Services is seeking a senior data engineering leader to shape the data strategy and oversee the local data warehouse and acquisitions. You will partner with NHS Wales, Welsh Government and cross‑organisational teams to deliver reliable, well governed data and reporting capabilities.

The role requires hands‑on SQL/SSIS experience, strong leadership, and ability to drive data quality, governance and security across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Advanced qualification or equivalent experience in Data Warehouse Management or Data Engineering.
• Advanced SQL query writing ability and SSIS package creation.
• Extensive experience in the data warehouse development lifecycle including change control, documentation, upgrades and archiving.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Data & Analytics data engineering team and deliver the local data warehouse.
• Architect, develop and manage the local data warehouse and data acquisitions.
• Ensure data governance, quality and security across datasets.
• Collaborate with NHS Wales and Government leads on reporting requirements.
• Manage staff across sites and develop the team.
• Liaise with National Data Resource Programme to align services.
• Plan strategic data storage and cloud/data storage strategy.
• Oversee GDPR and data protection compliance.
