Job summary

G-NIUS | Powered by Goodman Masson is seeking an experienced Data Engineer to maintain and enhance the operational data platform. The role focuses on moving plant, asset and business data from on-premises systems into Microsoft Azure and Fabric to underpin reporting, regulatory submissions and BI.

Approximately 60% BAU work and 40% project work, including data transformation and digital tracking initiatives, with a hybrid setup in Greater London for a 3-6 month fixed-term contract.

Qualifications

• Solid commercial data engineering experience in a complex operational environment.
• Strong Microsoft Fabric: warehousing, lakehouse, pipelines, security.
• Strong Python experience.
• On-prem SQL Server to cloud integration.
• Networking and secure data movement in controlled environments.
• Ability to work independently with Data, IT and operational stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, run and optimise pipelines into Azure and Fabric.
• Support Synapse, Azure Storage, Logic Apps and Fabric warehouse/lakehouse.
• Integrate on-prem SQL Server and operational systems with the cloud.
• Ingest plant and asset data (weights, volumes, process measurements, vehicle movements, real-time feeds).
• Build and support APIs for internal and external data exchange.
• Work with IT/network on secure on-prem to cloud connectivity.
• Manage Fabric/Entra access, security groups and privileged access.
• Troubleshoot integration and performance issues; keep technical documentation current.
• Deliver ad hoc reporting requests and support strategic data projects.

We are hiring an experienced Data Engineer for a 3-6 month fixed-term contract with a regulated resource-recovery and energy-generation operator in Greater London.

You will maintain and improve the operational data platform that moves plant, asset and business data from on-premises systems into Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Fabric. The work underpins reporting, regulatory submissions and internal BI. Roughly 60% is BAU support and enhancement; 40% is project work including data transformation and digital tracking initiatives.
