Job description

We seek a talented Data Engineer who, working alongside our Lead Data Engineer, will help us build data‑driven applications, pipelines, and unified data models to collect, analyse, and visualize data on reinsurance transactions, market trends, and purchasing behaviour.

You will join our Data & Insights practice within Global Specialties. Together, we aim to enhance colleagues’ and clients’ understanding of reinsurance broking markets across London, Bermuda, New York, Singapore, and Mumbai.

Our ambition is to empower colleagues to provide comprehensive advice and assist clients in making well‑informed decisions regarding their reinsurance purchasing, risk appetite, and portfolio management.

We embrace agile methodologies, focusing on delivering value through experimentation, frequent deployment, and close collaboration with stakeholders.

We will count on you to:
  • Join a growing team, responsible for delivering solutions from concept to implementation.
  • Explore solutions for outdated applications, unstructured data, and decentralised file storage.
  • Collaborate and share best practices with other engineering teams at Guy Carpenter and Marsh McLennan.
What you need to have:
  • A background in Analytics, Data or Software Engineering roles.
  • Experience or a good understanding of Product Management.
  • The communication and collaboration skills to work with business, technical, and development teams.
  • Expert knowledge in Python backend frameworks, ideally one of Django, FastAPI, or Flask.
What makes you stand out?
  • Experience with low code front‑end frameworks (e.g. Streamlit or Dash)
  • Experience with modern web development frameworks (e.g., React, Angular) and familiarity with data analysis and visualisation tools (e.g., Databricks, SQL, Power BI)
  • Excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills.
  • A self‑starting approach to your work.
Why join our team:
  • Professional development opportunities, interesting work and supportive leaders.
  • A vibrant and inclusive culture where you can work with talented colleagues to create new solutions and have impact for colleagues, clients and communities.
  • Our scale enables us to provide a range of career opportunities, as well as benefits and rewards to enhance your well‑being.

At Guy Carpenter, you can be your best. We work on challenges that matter with colleagues who help bring out our best. Our uniquely collaborative environment will empower you to focus on your personal and professional success, learning from top specialists in the (re)insurance industry and leading you towards a rewarding and impactful career.
