Job summary

Sanderson Government & Defence is seeking a Data Engineer to grow its data capability. You will design and build scalable data pipelines in Java (with Python exposure), work on real‑time streaming and event‑driven integrations, and integrate data from multiple sources using AWS services.

You will contribute to data architecture, governance and security controls, and support DevOps practices with CI/CD and containerisation. Experience with Kafka, Flink or Spark and cloud platforms is essential.

Qualifications

• Strong programming proficiency in Java or Python.
• Hands‑on experience with at least one of: Kafka, Flink, Spark.
• Experience building ETL/ELT or streaming data pipelines.
• Exposure to microservices and distributed system concepts.
• Experience working with cloud platforms.
• Understanding of CI/CD, testing and design patterns.

Responsibilities

• Build, optimize, and maintain scalable data pipelines using Java and exposure to Python, Flink, Kafka or Spark.
• Develop and support real‑time streaming pipelines and event‑driven integrations.
• Integrate data from multiple sources using AWS managed services.
• Contribute to data modelling, architecture best practices, and governance.
• Ensure data quality, lineage, governance, and security controls are applied.
