Job summary

VIVO Defence Services is hiring a Data Engineer and Power Platform Developer to design and deliver data solutions across the UK Defence estate. You will work hands-on with Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse, Fabric, Azure and SQL to automate processes and connect information across systems.

You’ll own the full solution lifecycle from discovery to live use, with hybrid/home-based arrangements and opportunities for travel across the UK. A relevant technical degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• Delivery of Power Apps, Power Automate and Dataverse solutions into live use.
• Experience with data engineering, SQL and integrating data from multiple sources.
• Ability to work directly with users to define problems and deliver usable solutions.
• Knowledge of application security, environment management, testing, deployment and support.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and support canvas and model-driven Power Apps and Power Automate workflows.
• Develop Dataverse solutions with accessible, intuitive user experiences.
• Build and maintain data pipelines, models and integrations using Fabric, Azure and SQL.
• Connect solutions to Microsoft 365 and business systems; improve data quality and traceability.
• Apply security controls, testing, documentation and deployment practices; support governance.
• Diagnose issues post-launch and monitor adoption and performance; iterate based on feedback.

At VIVO Defence Services, we deliver essential infrastructure and facilities management services across the UK Defence estate. We're looking for a Data Engineer and Power Platform Developer to create solutions that simplify how our colleagues work and improve the services we deliver to customers.

This is a hands-on opportunity to combine Power Platform development with data engineering, taking solutions from initial discovery through to live use and ongoing improvement.

About the Role

You’ll work directly with users to understand their challenges, identify opportunities to reduce manual effort and develop secure, intuitive solutions that deliver measurable value.

Using Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse, Microsoft Fabric, Azure and SQL, you’ll build applications, automate processes and connect information across business systems.

You’ll own the full solution lifecycle, from discovery and prototyping to testing, release, adoption and support. Alongside developing new solutions, you’ll maintain and improve existing applications, ensuring they remain reliable, secure and easy to use.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll collaborate with business users to understand process challenges and translate their needs into clear solution designs, development priorities and acceptance criteria.

You’ll design, build and support canvas and model-driven Power Apps, Power Automate workflows and Dataverse solutions. Your focus will be on accessible, intuitive experiences, supported by reusable components and consistent development standards.

Alongside application development, you’ll build and maintain data pipelines, models and integrations using Microsoft Fabric, Azure and SQL. You’ll connect solutions to Microsoft 365 and relevant business systems, improving data quality, consistency and traceability.

You’ll apply appropriate security controls, testing, documentation, source control and deployment practices, contributing to Power Platform governance and environment management.

Once solutions are live, you’ll diagnose issues, support users and monitor adoption and performance. You’ll use feedback to refine solutions and ensure they continue to meet business needs.

What You’ll Bring

You’ll have practical experience delivering Power Apps, Power Automate and Dataverse solutions into live use, alongside experience in data engineering, SQL and integrating information from multiple sources.

You’ll be comfortable working directly with users, taking ownership of a business problem and following it through to a solution that people can confidently use.

We’re looking for:

• Strong knowledge of Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse and Microsoft 365 integration.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Fabric, Azure and SQL.
• Experience building, maintaining and improving applications and automated workflows.
• An understanding of application security, environment management, testing, deployment and support.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a practical focus on user needs.
• Clear communication with technical and non-technical colleagues.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to secure, sustainable and supportable solutions.

Knowledge of APIs, middleware, Azure integration services and application lifecycle management would be beneficial, as would experience in facilities management, Defence, asset-intensive services or another regulated environment.

A relevant degree or technical qualification is desirable, although we equally value expertise developed through practical professional experience.
