Job summary

EPAM in London is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design scalable data solutions for enterprise platforms in the energy sector. You will govern data foundations, model data, and ensure compliance, guiding data interpretation across business functions.

You will work with cloud services (AWS/Azure), build pipelines with Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse, Airflow, and integrate data across ecosystems, mentor junior engineers, and present architecture recommendations to stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional experience in data engineering or related roles.
• Master-level expertise in AWS or Azure data ecosystems.
• Strong proficiency in ELT, data modeling and data integration.
• Hands-on experience with data orchestration and processing frameworks.
• Experience with modern cloud data services and CI/CD tooling.

Responsibilities

• Develop data models, manage ETL/ELT processes and ensure data quality and compliance.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to embed data-driven thinking across business functions.
• Implement efficient data ingestion and integration workflows across cloud environments.

• Coordinate change, incident and problem management processes.
• Mentor and guide junior data engineers on solution design and technical practices.
• Present data insights, architecture reports and recommendations to key stakeholders.
• Ensure implementation efficiency and consistent project delivery standards.
• Contribute to internal communities, including Centers of Excellence (CoE) and Communities of Practice (CoP).

Data foundations are only as strong as the standards behind them, and every process must hold up under scrutiny. In this role, you shape how data is governed and interpreted across business functions. The person in this position decides what reliable data means for everyone downstream.

• Strong communication and collaboration skills to align technical and business stakeholders
• Proven ability to lead solution delivery and enhance team performance
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering or a related discipline
• Experience in commodity trading and supply operations, ideally within the energy sector
