Job summary

Intec Select Limited in Central London is seeking a Data & AI Engineer with a strong software engineering mindset to design, build and deploy complete technical solutions across software, data infrastructure and cloud systems.

You will own end‑to‑end delivery, develop backend applications, APIs, and data pipelines in Python and SQL, integrate third‑party data sources, and apply AI/LLM based tooling to automate processes.

Qualifications

• Proven experience building and deploying complete software and data systems.
• Experience designing and delivering cloud-hosted solutions with security and maintenance in mind.
• Strong programming in Python and SQL for backend, data processing and APIs.
• Ability to own delivery of end-to-end solutions from concept to production.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and deploy complete software and data systems from architecture to production.
• Develop backend apps, REST APIs, databases and data pipelines in Python/SQL.
• Integrate systems with third-party APIs, legacy platforms and external data sources.
• Work with cloud infrastructure including security, access controls and reliability.

We're working with an established, innovative investment management firm in Central London seeking a talentedData & AI Engineer with a strong software engineering mindset and proven experience designing, building and deploying complete technical solutions.

We're looking for someone who understands how to build an entire system — not simply develop data pipelines or add functionality to existing platforms.

This is a hands-on engineering opportunity for someone passionate about programming, system architecture, cloud technology and applied AI, who enjoys taking ownership of solutions from initial concept through to production.

The Opportunity for Data & AI Engineer (Python / Cloud Systems):

You'll develop and enhance the firm's internal technology platforms, working across software development, data infrastructure, cloud architecture and automation.

Key responsibilities include:

• Designing, building and deploying complete software and data systems, from initial architecture through to production.
• Developing backend applications, REST APIs, databases and data pipelines usingPython and SQL.
• Building and integrating systems with third-party APIs, legacy platforms and external data sources.
• Working with cloud infrastructure, including architecture, secure deployment, access controls and system reliability.
• Developing and improving internal applications, automated workflows and data processing solutions.
• Building and enhancing practicalAI and LLM-powered tools for document processing, reporting and business automation.

What We're Looking For:

• Strong commercial experience developing software and data solutions using Python and SQL.
• Demonstrable experience designing and delivering at least one complete new system, from architecture and development through to deployment and production use.
• Experience establishing and deploying cloud-hosted solutions, with an understanding of infrastructure design, security and ongoing maintenance — rather than solely working within pre-existing setups.
• Experience with databases, APIs, integrations and capturing or processing structured and unstructured data.
• Sound software engineering fundamentals, including system design, maintainable code, Git, testing and deployment practices.
• The ability to understand a business problem, design an effective technical solution and take ownership of its delivery.
• Above all, genuine enthusiasm for engineering, intellectual curiosity and a proactive, independent approach to problem-solving.

Desirable, Not Essential

• Experience with Azure, PostgreSQL, FastAPI, Docker, CI/CD, ETL pipelines, GitHub Actions, AI/LLM APIs or machine learning.
• Previous financial services experience is not required. We're far more interested in what you've personally designed, built and delivered.
