Job summary

Focus Group in Shoreham-by-Sea is seeking a Data Engineer to join its data and analytics team. The role is hybrid, with a salary of £40,000 - £45,000, and targets 2-3 years of data/IT experience to drive real business decisions.

You will develop and enhance our Snowflake data warehouse, roll out internal AI solutions, and onboard new data sources as we grow.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of experience as a Data Engineer.
• Expert-level SQL; ability to write and optimise complex queries.
• Strong experience with SQL databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL or similar).
• Fluency in Python.
• Solid understanding of database architecture and query performance.
• Familiarity with Git and cloud computing.

Responsibilities

• Building and maintaining SQL data products in dbt (Data Build Tool).
• Ensuring data is accessible, reliable, and ready for analysts to use.
• Designing and maintaining efficient, scalable SQL databases.
• Writing Python scripts for data processing, ETL, and database interactions.

We're looking for a Data Engineer to join our growing data and analytics team. This is a great opportunity for someone with 2-3 years' experience in a data or IT role to build on their skills, take ownership of real projects, and see the results drive genuine business decisions.

You'll help develop and enhance our Snowflake data warehouse, support the rollout of internal AI solutions, and play a key part in bringing new data sources onto the platform as we grow.

What you'll be doing

• Building and maintaining SQL data products in dbt (Data Build Tool)
• Making sure data is accessible, reliable, and ready for our analysts to use
• Designing and maintaining efficient, scalable SQL databases
• Writing Python scripts for data processing, ETL, and database interactions
• Supporting the rollout of AI solutions across the data platform

What you'll bring

• A proactive, logical approach to problem-solving and a genuine appetite to learn

Experience within an MSP (Managed Service Provider) or familiarity with networking concepts is a bonus, but not essential.
