Job summary

Understanding Solutions is recruiting a Senior GCP Data Engineer for a major UK media organisation. The role focuses on Dataflow, Dataform, Apache Beam and BigQuery within existing GCP pipelines.

You will aim to improve performance, potentially rearchitect, and deliver quick wins that reduce processing time and monthly costs. The contract is outside IR35, £500 per day, for two months with a strong likelihood of extension. London-based with two days per week on-site.

Qualifications

• Commercial experience with Dataflow, Dataform, Apache Beam & BigQuery.
• Experience assessing and improving existing brownfield data pipelines.
• Evidence of performance optimisation, cost reduction or rearchitecture.
• The ability to get up to speed quickly and work confidently with senior stakeholders.

Senior GCP Data Engineer – Dataflow / Dataform / Apache Beam / Big Query

£500 per day | Outside IR35 | 2 months, likely extension | London twice per week

This isn’t a BAU Data Engineer role. You’ll join a major UK media organisation to assess, improve and potentially rearchitect an existing GCP integration connecting operational customer data with a leading CRM platform.

The service was originally built on Snowflake and AWS before being migrated to GCP with limited redesign. As the Data Engineer you will have the opportunity to shape the technical direction, deliver quick wins and implement improvements that reduce processing time, monthly costs and overall complexity.

The Data Engineer will need to do:

• Commercial experience with Dataflow, Dataform, Apache Beam & Big Query
• Experience assessing and improving existing brownfield data pipelines
• Evidence of performance optimisation, cost reduction or rearchitecture
• The ability to get up to speed quickly and work confidently with senior stakeholders

Experience with Braze, CRM, MarTech or customer data pipelines would put you straight to the top!

This is a brilliant short-term project where you can make a genuine, measurable impact, with a good chance of extension if the initial work identifies a larger opportunity.
