Job description

Data Engineer | 4 days a week in London | up to £120k DOE

A London-based financial research and analytics business serving institutional investors is hiring a Data Engineer to build and run the data foundation behind its AI and quantitative models. You will own the pipelines that bring market, economic, research, news and internal data into one reliable platform, and the quality of that data will directly shape the performance of client tools and models.

What you’ll do
  • Build, run and support production ETL/ELT pipelines across market, economic, research, news and internal sources, including inter-dealer broker market data.
  • Design a scalable bronze/silver/gold architecture on a modern cloud data stack.
  • Set up data quality gates and monitoring, and take ownership when something breaks. This is a time-sensitive environment and clients rely on the data being right.
  • Build and maintain metadata for instruments, tickers, countries, clients, sources and themes.
  • Create APIs and tables that serve dashboards, quant models and AI agent tools.
  • Implement lineage tracking, user entitlements and permissions.
  • Work closely with data scientists and analysts to deliver clean, model-ready datasets.
What you’ll bring
  • A few years in data engineering, with hands-on experience operating and supporting production ETL/ELT pipelines.
  • Strong SQL and practical Python for troubleshooting, validation and operational automation.
  • Experience with time-series financial market data.
  • Familiarity with cloud data platforms such as Azure, Databricks (including Delta Lake) or Snowflake.
  • Clear communication and a track record of owning time-sensitive production issues.
  • A keen eye for detail and a pragmatic approach to cleaning messy data into reliable, structured datasets.
  • Experience with tick-level data or kdb+ (or similar systems).
  • Exposure to data lineage, entitlements or data catalog tooling.
  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.

The role requires 4 days a week in central London and can pay up to £120k p/a depending on experience.
