Job summary

Searchability NS&D in Gloucester is seeking a Data Engineer for a permanent role with active Enhanced DV clearance. Hybrid working when possible, on-site in Gloucester when required.

You will design and manage data pipelines, ETL processes, and data integration for National Security clients using Apache tools including NiFi, Kafka, and SQL/NoSQL databases like MongoDB. Proficiency in Groovy, Python or Java for ETL, data modeling, and data governance is essential.

Qualifications

• Active eDV clearance (West).
• Full-time on-site work in Gloucester when required.
• Experience with data pipelines, ETL, and data integration.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop data pipelines including ingestion, orchestration and ETL.
• Ensure data quality, consistency and security across processes.
• Create/maintain database schemas and data models.
• Integrate data from diverse sources and enrich datasets.
• Maintain and enhance data ingestion and storage components.
• Troubleshoot integrated data systems and monitor performance.
• Collaborate with scrum to decompose requirements into epics and stories.
• Write clean, secure, reusable code with test-driven development.

What will the Data Engineer be Doing?

You will develop mission-critical data solutions and manage pipelines that transform diverse data sources into valuable insights for our client’s National Security customers. You will collaborate with clients to solve complex challenges, utilising distributed computing techniques to handle large-scale, real-time, and unstructured data.

Responsibilities include:

• Design and develop data pipelines, including ingestion, orchestration, and ETL processing (e.g., NiFi).
• Ensure data consistency, quality, and security across all processes.
• Create and maintain database schemas and data models.
• Integrate and enrich data from diverse sources, maintaining data integrity.
• Maintain and enhance existing architectural components such as Data Ingest and Data Stores.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose issues within integrated (enriched) data systems.
• Collaborate with the scrum team to decompose user requirements into epics and stories.
• Write clean, secure, and reusable code following a test-driven development approach.
• Monitor system performance and implement updates to maintain optimal operation.

The Data Engineer Should Have:

• Active eDV clearance (West)
• Willingness to work full-time on-site in Gloucester when required.

Required technical experience in the following:

• SQL and noSQL databases (e.g. MongoDB)
• ETL processing languages such as Groovy, Python or Java
