The Opportunity

I'm currently working with a leading construction organisation that is looking to hire an experienced Data Engineer to join its data team on a 12-month fixed-term basis.

The role sits within a major transformation programme focused on the evolution of the organisation's ERP system. As part of the Integration workstream, you'll play a key role in designing and delivering cloud-based data integrations between business applications.

Working closely with the Senior Data Engineer, BI Manager and wider business stakeholders, you'll be responsible for building robust integration and ETL processes, helping to automate manual data flows and improve how data moves across the organisation.

This is a hands-on Data Engineering role, with a particular focus on Informatica Cloud (IICS). You'll need strong experience using IICS in a professional environment, alongside solid SQL and API integration experience.

If you're a Data Engineer with strong Informatica Cloud, SQL, ETL and API experience who has worked on an ERP transformation or integration project, this could be an excellent opportunity to join a major data transformation programme.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, build and maintain cloud-based data integrations using Informatica Cloud (IICS).
  • Develop and maintain ETL processes to extract, transform and load data between business applications and the data warehouse.
  • Contribute to the integration workstream and support the transformation of the ERP environment.
  • Work with stakeholders to understand data challenges and translate business requirements into technical integration solutions.
  • Develop and maintain data warehouse processes and data models supporting business intelligence solutions.
  • Integrate data through APIs and other application-to-application integration methods.
  • Re-engineer manual data flows into automated, scalable and maintainable processes.
  • Perform data warehouse lifecycle activities including analysis, development, testing, implementation and monitoring.
  • Identify opportunities for data acquisition and improvements to existing data flows.
  • Maintain clear technical documentation covering integrations, processes and data flows.
  • Champion best practices across data engineering, data quality, testing, security and technical delivery.
  • Work within an agile delivery environment, using Azure DevOps to support development and release processes.
Essential Skills and Experience
  • 5+ years' professional experience in Data Engineering, Business Intelligence or a closely related technical field.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Informatica Cloud (IICS) - this is essential.
  • Clear experience working on an ERP-related project, with the ability to demonstrate what the project involved and your specific contribution.
  • Strong SQL experience, ideally with SQL Server, Azure SQL Database and/or T-SQL.
  • Strong understanding of ETL processes.
  • Experience developing and managing data integrations between business applications.
  • Strong experience working with APIs, ideally with around 3+ years' practical experience.
  • Experience working with data warehouses and dimensional modelling.
  • Experience working in an agile environment.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving ability and business acumen.
  • Previous experience within the construction or housebuilding industry.
  • Experience with Python and/or PowerShell.
  • Experience delivering data transformation or ERP integration projects.
  • Knowledge of wider Azure data services.
Package and Benefits
  • Up to £60,000 salary depending on experience.
  • Hybrid working with 1-2 days per month in the Doncaster office.
  • Opportunity to work on a major ERP transformation programme.
  • Hands-on exposure to Informatica Cloud (IICS), data integration and modern data engineering practices.
  • Opportunity to contribute to a wider data strategy and transformation programme.
  • Development opportunities within a leading construction organisation.
