Overview

The Data, Intelligence and Insight Department has a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic professional to join our Development Team as a Data Engineer. We are looking for a motivated person who possesses excellent SQL skills. The ideal candidate will work flexibly as part of a small team responsible for maintaining and developing the department's Data Warehouse. We offer a full induction, flexible working hours and excellent career opportunities. You will be based at one of our three main offices – Wrexham Maelor Hospital, Abergele Hospital or Bangor Hospital – where we offer hybrid working with regular office attendance.

BCUHB is the largest health organisation in Wales, providing a full range of primary, community, mental health, acute and elective hospital services for a population of around 700,000 across North Wales.

Responsibilities

The postholder will contribute to the design and maintenance of the organisation's data warehouse, and the acquisition, maintenance and presentation of data. The data warehouse supports the organisation in strategically and operationally managing health services across North Wales.

  • Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and techniques
  • Advanced SQL skills
  • Experience of ETL processes
  • In‑depth knowledge of the Microsoft SQL Server platform and client tools (SSMS)
  • Understanding of the importance of thorough testing

The applicant must possess excellent communication skills in order to carry out user requirements elicitation, and excellent analysis skills to translate these requirements into working solutions and warehouse datasets.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
