The Data Centre Infrastructure Engineer role is part of Data Centre Management/ Data Centre Operations that sits with DBS and reports to the Data Centre Infrastructure Manager.

Responsible for the governance and accountability of day-to-day operations at the Wakefield Group Data Centre. This includes oversight of all IT equipment installations, moves, and decommissioning activities, as well as ensuring operational efficiency, compliance, and service protection within the facility.

Responsibilities
  • Assisting with the management of delivering power, cooling and space associated with the installation of hardware
  • Liaison with internal stakeholders to ensure customer expectations are met.
  • Responsibility for inward / outward of materials, manage stock control, performing floor audits and provide management with effective MI.
  • Maintain data security according to process guideline
  • Capacity landing and decommissioning according to process guideline
  • Site management and maintain tidiness in operation areas
  • Innovate and contribute from day-to-day operation experiences to improve operational efficiency
Qualifications
  • Demostrable experience of installation, migration and demise of IT equipment within Data Centres along with industry experience on Data Center Operations
  • Understanding of underpinning M&E relating to critical facilities (UPS, generators, RPPs etc) and awareness of service management techniques including Problem, Change and Incident management
  • Understanding of data network and cabling technologies, principles and products
  • Working knowledge of Nlyte, SMART and SNOW would be ideal
  • General overview as to how a computer room floor is laid out and how modern server, storage and network infrastructure is integrated and an awareness of IT hardware, software, operations and networks.
  • Sound understanding on incidents response and prioritization
  • Good PC / Office skills (Microsoft office, Confluence, Teams and SharePoint etc)

The base location of this role will be Wakefield Data Center.
