The Role: Electrical Maintenance Shift Engineer (Shift Technician)

You’ll play a key role in the smooth, safe and efficient operation of a state‑of‑the‑art data centre environment. You will ensure the reliability of critical electrical and mechanical infrastructure through proactive maintenance, testing and real‑time issue resolution.


What You’ll Be Doing


  • Driving safety, efficiency and high‑performance culture across the site

  • Making sure all operations meet industry standards and statutory requirements

  • Planning and delivering maintenance and repair tasks, including managing specialist subcontractors

  • Responding to incidents, troubleshooting issues and providing on‑call support where required

  • Keeping detailed records of all work completed, identifying improvements and implementing effective solutions

  • Supporting and guiding more junior engineers, helping to build a strong and capable team

  • Demonstrating advanced technical capability across electrical and mechanical systems

  • Writing and reviewing operating procedures and assisting with critical maintenance/change planning


What You’ll Bring


  • Experience in mission‑critical environments (data centres, hospitals, pharmaceuticals, banking, etc.)

  • Technical training or education in Electrical, Mechanical or HVAC engineering

  • Strong skills in maintaining systems such as:

    • High & Low Voltage distribution, switchgear, UPS, generators

    • Chillers, CRAC/CRAH, cooling towers, pumps, pipework

    • BMS systems for monitoring and control



  • Preferably trained in electrical switching & isolation procedures

  • Good computer literacy (Excel, Word, Outlook)

  • Ability and willingness to work shifts in a 24/7 operation

  • A proactive, customer‑focused mindset with great attention to detail

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to stay calm under pressure

  • A hands‑on, solution‑driven approach
