Overview

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on challenging problems with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain and seek talented people to help.

You will join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You will collaborate with teams across AWS to deliver high standards for safety and security while providing scalable capacity at a low cost. Role

Data Centre Technician. You will become the primary resolver for your support team and gain troubleshooting skills on one or more operating systems. You will troubleshoot and solve most infrastructure issues. Issues are escalated to the appropriate resolver groups when necessary. You will create and maintain documentation on technologies you support and convey Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to junior staff. You will understand all aspects of the equipment you support. You will innovate and make decisions on your own, while taking direction when provided, paying attention to all details involved. You will execute small projects independently and work with your manager on planning and executing larger local projects. You will act as an escalation point for junior technicians and understand all aspects of the equipment you support.

Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within internal Service-Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures.
  • Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to while performing work.
  • Respond to off-hour emergency calls per on-call rotation for any one of the region's sites.
  • Fully comply with all physical security procedures and policies.
  • Must be commutable to the Thames Valley Region.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of computer hardware experience.
  • 3+ years of computer networking experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's degree or higher in an IT-related field; applicable certifications or equivalent professional or military experience.
  • Networking experience with CCNA and/or Network+ certifications.
  • Experience with CISCO, Juniper, and other commodity networking devices.
  • Previous experience working in a data centre environment (racking & stacking gear, cable management, hot & cold aisle containment).
  • All candidates must possess a valid driver's license, their own vehicle, and will need to pass a driving record check to operate company vehicles. Travel between sites/locations during the workday may occur.
Other Information

Data Centres are 24/7 environments. All interested candidates must be willing to work rotating shifts (day/night) as well as weekends. Data Centre Technicians are also required to wear a pager for communication, information, emergency, and on-call situations.

UK national security clearance may be required.
