A global technology company is seeking a Data Centre Technician in Swindon. The role involves troubleshooting equipment, ensuring adherence to safety procedures, and responding to emergencies. AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on challenging problems with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain and seek talented people to help.
You will join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You will collaborate with teams across AWS to deliver high standards for safety and security while providing scalable capacity at a low cost. You will experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.
Data Centre Technician. You will become the primary resolver for your support team and gain troubleshooting skills on one or more operating systems. You will troubleshoot and solve most infrastructure issues. Issues are escalated to the appropriate resolver groups when necessary. You will create and maintain documentation on technologies you support and convey Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to junior staff. You will understand all aspects of the equipment you support. You will innovate and make decisions on your own, while taking direction when provided, paying attention to all details involved. You will execute small projects independently and work with your manager on planning and executing larger local projects. You will act as an escalation point for junior technicians and understand all aspects of the equipment you support.
Data Centres are 24/7 environments. All interested candidates must be willing to work rotating shifts (day/night) as well as weekends. Data Centre Technicians are also required to wear a pager for communication, information, emergency, and on-call situations.
UK national security clearance may be required.
