Job summary
LA International is seeking a Datacentre Engineer for on-site work in Grays and Stevenage. The role involves decommissioning hardware in live data centres, handling rack-mounted equipment, and ensuring secure data handling and documentation.
Travel between three locations is required, with strict adherence to change-control and security procedures. The ideal candidate has hands-on data centre experience, knowledge of enterprise storage hardware, and familiarity with CMDB/asset-management
Qualifications
- Proven hands-on experience in live data centre environments.
- Decommissioning of servers, storage or infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of enterprise server and storage hardware.
- Experience installing/removing rack-mounted equipment in data centres.
- Experience tracing and disconnecting Ethernet, Fibre Channel/SAN and power connections.
Responsibilities
- Decommission hardware in datacentres safely and in order.
- Work with rack elevations and asset lists to implement plans.
- Maintain accurate hardware asset and inventory records.
- Follow formal change-control and change-management processes.
- Produce clear documentation and reports of activities.
