Job summary

Sanderson King is seeking a Data & Business Intelligence Analyst for an insurance group. You will shape how the business uses data, developing reporting, improving data quality and translating complex insurance information into clear insights to support commercial and operational decisions.

You will work with business leaders and an external BI partner to develop data models, reporting infrastructure and BI capabilities, including data warehouse and dashboards.

Qualifications

  • Experience in data analysis or business intelligence turning complex data into actionable insights.
  • Property & Casualty / general insurance experience, including insurance terminology and data relationships.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with Power BI or comparable reporting tools.
  • Experience with data modelling, data warehousing and ETL processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to data accuracy.
  • Ability to gather business requirements and communicate with technical partners and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Understanding of data governance, integrity and security.

Responsibilities

  • Translating insurance entity relationships and business requirements into effective data schemas and models.
  • Work with external BI team to build a robust data warehouse and develop Power BI reports and dashboards.
  • Gather reporting requirements and provide relevant reporting for different teams and user groups.
  • Analyse datasets to identify trends, investigate root causes and highlight improvement opportunities.
  • Improve data quality, consistency and governance across data sources, ETL processes and reporting.
  • Present findings and recommendations clearly to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Support the development of the business’s longer-term BI strategy and roadmap.

Sanderson King is recruiting a Data & Business Intelligence Analyst on behalf of an insurance group.

This is an opportunity to shape how the business uses data - developing reporting, improving data quality and translating complex insurance information into clear insights that support commercial and operational decisions.

The role

Working closely with business leaders, cross-functional teams and an external BI partner, you will help develop and manage the organisation’s data models, reporting infrastructure and BI capabilities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Translating insurance entity relationships and business requirements into effective data schemas and models.
  • Working with an external BI team to build a robust data warehouse and develop insightful Power BI reports and dashboards.
  • Gathering reporting requirements and providing relevant reporting for different teams and user groups.
  • Analysing datasets to identify trends, investigate root causes and highlight opportunities for improvement.
  • Improving data quality, consistency and governance across data sources, ETL processes and reporting.
  • Presenting findings and recommendations clearly to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Supporting the development of the business’s longer-term BI strategy and roadmap.
About you

You will bring experience in data analysis or business intelligence, with a track record of turning complex information into practical business insights.

We are particularly interested in candidates with:

  • Property & Casualty / general insurance experience - essential, including a sound understanding of insurance terminology and data relationships.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with Power BI or comparable reporting tools.
  • Experience with data modelling, data warehousing and ETL processes.
