Job summary

Howden is offering a Data Analyst Apprentice role that starts in a permanent position and runs an 18-month development programme. You will join the Data Science & Analytics team and develop skills in Power BI, SQL and Python while working on real business data.

The programme combines hands-on project work with structured induction, aims to build problem-solving, reporting and data modelling capabilities, and requires you to be eligible to work in the UK with a commutable office distance.

Qualifications

• No insurance experience is needed; we'll teach you everything you need to know.
• Must have the full and unrestricted right to work in the UK and have lived in the UK for the last 3 years.
• GCSE English grade C/4 and GCSE Maths grade B/5 are required.
• Not already hold a qualification that overlaps with the content of this apprenticeship.

Responsibilities

• Gain exposure to data analytics and data science, helping solve business problems.
• Support live data projects for different areas of the Retail business.
• Analyse datasets to identify patterns, trends and anomalies.
• Clean and validate data to ensure accuracy, then turn findings into reports.
• Learn to build reports and dashboards using Power BI, SQL and Python.

As a Data Analyst Apprentice, you'll learn how to work with real business data, uncover patterns, solve problems and create reports and dashboards that make a genuine impact. You'll develop the analytical and technical skills needed to work with data confidently, while learning tools such as Power BI, SQL and Python.

You'll join Howden on a permanent role and complete an 18-month development programme designed to develop your technical knowledge, professional skills and confidence to kick start your career.

What you'll be doing?

You will begin with a structured induction before joining our Data Science & Analytics team, where you will work alongside experienced colleagues and gradually take on more responsibility.

During the programme, you'll:

• Gain exposure to both data analytics and data science, helping you understand how analysis, reporting and data models can be used to solve different business problems.
• Support a range of live data projects for different areas of the Retail business.
• Analyse datasets to understand what the information is telling us, looking for patterns, trends, gaps or unusual results that may need further investigation.
• Clean, organise and check data before it is analysed, spotting errors or inconsistencies and helping make sure the information is accurate and reliable.
• Learn how to turn your findings into clear reports for key business stakeholders.
• Build your technical skills by learning to use tools such as Power BI, SQL and Python.

To be eligible for our apprenticeship, you must:

• Have the full and unrestricted right to work in the UK.
• Have lived permanently in the UK for the last 3 years.
• Have achieved a grade C/4 in GCSE English and B/5 in GCSE Maths.
• Not already hold a qualification that significantly overlaps with the content of this apprenticeship.
