Data Analyst

The post holder will be responsible for providing high‑quality outputs from existing and new data sources in the form of reporting, dashboards and user‑accessed tools. This includes the design, development, implementation and support of key intelligence tools such as Power BI.
Key responsibilities include:
- Using a range of descriptive and analytical statistical techniques, including Excel formulae, to support clinical and managerial decision‑making.
- Influencing managers and clinicians with narrative and graphic tools that clarify data and its consequences.
- Providing assurance performance reporting to internal and external stakeholders, flagging areas of concern and ensuring robust validation and reporting ahead of agreed timescales.
- Supporting colleagues across operational and corporate services to maintain compliance with key targets.
- Engaging openly with the Contracts Performance and CQUIN Team to promote joint work and share best practice.
- Leading the development and delivery of timely and accurate performance reports at all levels of the organisation, working closely with managers and clinicians to embed appropriate data capture processes.
- Presenting performance information to the appropriate audience and proactively supporting target delivery through action planning and improvement trajectories.
Essential skills and experience:
- Diploma or degree level (Level 5) in a relevant subject, or equivalent.
- Excellent SQL skills – data management, interrogation and analysis.
- Experience with Python or R preferred.
- Previous NHS experience, ideally within a mental health and community NHS Trust.
- Experience working in a large complex health or social care organisation.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with significant experience and proficiency.
- Experience and use of data interpretation and reporting processes.
- Knowledge of data visualisation tools, particularly Excel and Power BI.
