Job description

Join our team at the Guardian and be a part of a diverse and inclusive global organisation that delivers fearless, investigative journalism, and holds power to account. Our team of award‑winning journalists, cutting‑edge commercial professionals, and industry‑leading digital experts are committed to making a difference and represent a wide range of backgrounds and perspectives. We offer a challenging and exciting environment for career development, with a focus on training, growth and fostering an inclusive culture.

Responsibilities
  • Analysing customer behaviour, marketing performance and retention to support subscription and revenue growth.
  • Contributing to high‑quality, stakeholder‑relevant analysis.
  • Maintaining high standards for analytical rigour while engaging more closely in insight communication and peer learning.
  • Developing strong working relationships with peers and stakeholders, building trust and understanding across functions.
  • Using SQL and visualization tools (e.g. Tableau) to uncover patterns and generate insights.
  • Growing your understanding of business domains such as audience behaviour, campaign performance or content engagement.

We operate in a hybrid environment: 3 days a week from our offices in Kings Cross and 2 days a week remotely.

We value and respect all differences (seen and unseen) in all people. We aspire to have inclusive working experiences and an environment that reflects the audience we serve, where our people have equal access to career development opportunities, their voices are heard and can contribute to our future. We actively encourage applications from people of all backgrounds. Many of our staff work flexibly and we will consider all requests for flexible working arrangements.

It is not essential that you meet all of the requirements above, so if you're interested in the role and feel you have the relevant skills, then we would still encourage you to apply.

You possess a solid, foundational understanding of statistics, including concepts like averages, variance, correlation, and significance testing. You have hands‑on experience working with SQL and large datasets in a professional or academic setting and have experience with Python or an appetite to learn Python for data analysis. You have experience delivering analysis and interpreting data to support decision‑making. You have familiarity with common data visualisation tools such as Tableau or Looker. You are curious about the Guardian's journalism and business model and interested in learning how data can be applied to support business or editorial objectives.
