Data Analyst / 9 month contract / Cheltenham (1 day per week) / Manufacturing Company
Role Overview
A major Manufactory company is looking for an experienced Data Analyst on a contract basis. The Data Analyst will play a key role within the Data & Reporting Workstream of the Programme, supporting the migration of high-quality, compliant data into Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 F&O). They will work closely with the Data / Reporting Lead, Business Unit Data Leads, Process Leads, and technical partners to deliver accurate and auditable data migration outcomes.
This role focuses on hands‑on data migration execution (including data profiling, mapping, cleansing, validation, and reconciliation) using the Data Management Framework (DMF) within D365 F&O and following the Data Enablement Strategy principles and guardrails. The Data Analyst will help ensure business continuity and data integrity throughout the migration lifecycle, contributing to mock migration cycles, Business Unit test data preparation, data quality remediation, and go‑live readiness across all data domains.
Key Responsibilities
- Support end-to-end data migration activities into D365 F&O using the Data Management Framework (DMF) for data extraction, transformation, loading, and validation.
- Execute data profiling, cleansing, and standardisation across key domains (Customer, Vendor, Product, etc.).
- Prepare and maintain source-to-target mapping documents in alignment with approved business rules and data standards.
- Map, prepare, and migrate Business Unit test data to support system integration testing (SIT), user acceptance testing (UAT), and other non-production environments.
- Work closely with Business Unit Data Leads and Process Owners to ensure that test data sets accurately represent real business scenarios, supporting validation of end-to-end processes.
- Participate in mock and trial migrations, executing DMF import/export templates, analysing load errors, and validating reconciliation outcomes.
- Perform data reconciliation between source and target systems, documenting exceptions and remediation actions.
- Support the development and maintenance of data quality dashboards and reports to track progress against the data readiness targets.
- Collaborate with Data Owners and Process Owners to remediate data quality issues identified during test or mock migration cycles.
- Maintain comprehensive audit trails, mapping documentation, and approvals in line with the governance and compliance requirements.
- Apply data security, privacy, and retention policies (e.g., GDPR) in all data-handling activities.
- Support the Data / Reporting Lead in refining data migration methods, templates, and processes for future Business Unit rollouts.
Core Experience
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in data migration, data analysis, or data quality management roles within a large-scale ERP or transformation programmes.
- Practical experience using the D365 Finance & Operations Data Management Framework (DMF) for bulk data load and transformation activities.
- Strong knowledge of D365 F&O data entities and structures is critical, including master and transactional data (Customer, Vendor, Product, GL, etc.).
- Proven experience in data profiling, cleansing, validation, and reconciliation using Excel, Power BI, or SQL.
- Experience preparing and migrating representative test data sets to support system testing and business validation activities.
- Ability to interpret business rules and translate them into accurate data mapping and transformation logic.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate across business, functional, and technical teams to deliver migration objectives.
- Solid experience preparing data validation reports and performing test-cycle analysis (mock and cutover rehearsals).
Preferred Experience
- Experience in a D365 F&O implementation within a manufacturing, engineering, or industrial environment.
- Familiarity with Power Platform, Power Query, DAX, SQL for reporting purposes.
- Experience developing or interpreting data quality metrics, dashboards, or reconciliation scripts.
- Understanding of data security, encryption, and GDPR compliance within enterprise applications.
- Experience working in a federated data model, balancing group-level standards with BU-level operational realities.
- Experience applying Master Data Management (MDM) principles to drive data consistency, integrity, and governance across enterprise domains including customer, product, supplier, and financial hierarchies.
- Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Dynamics 365 Finance Functional Consultant Associate, Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate (Power BI), or equivalent data/ERP migration credentials.
Please note:
This role requires working on-site in Cheltenham 1 day per week.
Interview process will be 2-3 stages.
