Job Role: Data Analyst

MPA are currently recruiting on behalf of our public service client for a Data Analyst in the Belfast Area.

As a Data Analyst you will manage the development, production and delivery of complex statistical and qualitative or quantitative reports for emergency and non‑emergency or corporate activity‑based information. You will provide specialist knowledge in the interpretation and analysis of information, define reporting requirements, and ensure that methods of information delivery meet the needs of Executive Directors, Senior Managers and external Health and Social Care organisations or agencies.

37.5 hours per week (Monday – Friday)

Salary:

£13.57 to £19.10

Job Responsibilities:
  • Produce detailed and timely Trust level corporate activity reports on a daily, weekly and monthly basis for distribution to Executive Directors, Area Managers and other senior staff.
  • Investigate activity trends within the Trust, ensuring relevant data cleaning has taken place to maintain accuracy.
  • Prepare and submit returns to the Department of Health, Health and Social Care Board, and other Health and Social Care agencies or stakeholders.
  • Act as a point of contact for queries from external stakeholders regarding statutory returns.
  • Communicate complex findings coherently to staff and stakeholders at all levels, ensuring key findings are relevant and comprehensive.
  • Facilitate a clear definition of information requirements for complex, statistically or technically challenging requests or projects, and translate issues for non‑specialists.
  • Have in‑depth knowledge and experience in statistical methodologies.
  • Handle multiple large data sets and perform appropriate analysis.
Essential Experience:

A working knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office packages, specifically the creation and manipulation of Access databases and Excel Pivot tables; knowledge of web‑based applications.

A degree in Computing, Information Technology, Information Management or related areas of information/statistics management with one year’s quantifiable experience within a discipline relevant to information analysis or statistics, including an in‑depth working knowledge of information production, report writing or inferential statistics.

Or 5 years’ experience and quantifiable experience within a discipline relevant to information analysis or statistics, including an in‑depth working knowledge of information production, report writing or inferential statistics.

  1. Highly skilled in analysis and interpretation of data and turning data into meaningful presentations; experience of communicating effectively in formal meetings.
  2. Attention to detail and accuracy.
  3. Sound knowledge of data security and confidentiality issues, working within a highly confidential environment.
Desirable Criteria:
  1. Knowledge and understanding of the use of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) for geographical display of information.
  2. Knowledge of visual basis/VBA.
  3. Knowledge and experience of SQL.

Knowledge of HSC data standards and modernisation agenda.
