A local government organization in Chelmsford is seeking a Clinical Practitioner in Children & Young People Mental Health for a 12-month fixed-term role. This position involves training and clinical duties aimed at supporting young individuals facing mental health challenges. Key details:
We are a partnership between the Local Authority and SW London & St George’s NHS Trust, operating the ACCESS Child & Youth Mental Health Team within the Family Consultation Service. Our service provides initial assessments and Tier 2 interventions to children, young people and families aged 4.5 to 18 years with moderate‑to‑severe mental health presentations.
You will train on the Children & Young People Mental Health (CYP‑MH) ASC / LD modality Course and carry out clinical work in our service, complementing your studies and applying newly developed skills. The role requires a highly motivated and enthusiastic clinical practitioner committed to evidence‑based practice, equity, diversity and inclusion.

The 1‑year full‑time training will begin on 19 January 2026. You will spend approximately 2.5 days per week on academic work (teaching and personal study) and 2.5 days on service‑based client work. You will be both an employee of the service and an enrolled student with UCL/Anna Freud. Upon successful completion you will receive a UCL Postgraduate Diploma.
