Job summary

Essex County Council is seeking a Cycle Training Administrator for a fixed term or secondment of up to 18 months in Chelmsford. The role focuses on administering cycle training bookings, handling calls, processing invoices, and ensuring operational efficiency across Essex cycling schemes.

Reporting to the Cycling Officer, you will manage online bookings, maintain records in line with GDPR, and support the cycling team’s objectives with a commitment to quality service and flexible working

Qualifications

  • Educated to RQF level 2 (GCSE) or equivalent by experience.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to work with a minimum of supervision.
  • IT literate and familiarity with MS Office software and database management
  • Knowledge of GDPR and ECC Privacy protocols
  • Evidence of continuing professional development and expert knowledge in relevant professional area

Responsibilities

  • Deal effectively with and resolve booking enquiries, escalating non-routine issues as needed.
  • Provide efficient administration of internal systems in Essex.
  • Provide a full range of administrative and clerical support.
  • Maintain a high level of customer service with prompt calls and emails.
  • Perform data inputs and GDPR compliant record keeping.
  • Support Cycling team objectives within performance management framework.

Cycle Training Administrator

Fixed Term,Full Time

£25,959 to £27,613 per annum

Location: Chelmsford

Working Style: Anywhere worker

Please note this vacancy is available as a fixed term contract or secondment opportunity for up to 18 months. This role includes a requirement to work from County Hall, Chelmsford on Tuesdays. From time to time, you may also be required to attend other Essex County Council offices to meet operational needs.

The Opportunity

The Highways and Transportation team’s priority is to create a Safer Greener Healthier County and increase the use of sustainable transport through modal shift, sustainably designed transport schemes and improving alternatives. Our aim is to provide and promote credible alternatives to the private car, through a menu of active travel (walking and cycling) measures throughout Essex. A key part of this is ensuring that Essex residents can cycle confidently and safely, through the provision of appropriate training.

To provide administration services for cycle training bookings for all cycling courses co-ordinated by the team, within Essex. Reporting to the Cycling Officer, the role will be responsible for answering the telephone, co-ordinating bookings (booked online), processing invoices and undertaking all aspects of administration to ensure smooth running of the cycle training schemes being delivered in the area.

Accountabilities
  • Deal effectively with and resolve booking enquires, only referring or escalating those of a non-routine nature
  • Provide efficient and effective administration of internal systems in Essex
  • Provide a full range of administrative and clerical support as required
  • Provide a high level of customer service by ensuring that calls and emails are answered promptly, using own initiative, and appropriately deciding on the use of standard template letters
  • Undertake data inputs as required, updating computer and manual files, dealing with routine matters and enquiries as appropriate, ensuring that GDPR regulations are adhered to
  • Maintain an effective working environment and regard other’s welfare
  • Support with achieving the objectives of the Cycling team as and when required
  • Specific individual and shared targets and objectives are defined annually within the performance management framework

Please note that the job role requires you to be mobile throughout an operational area. Therefore, the post holder will need to have a driving licence and access to a vehicle,or the ability to meet the mobility requirements of the role through other means.
