Job summary

Nortal is seeking an experienced Cyber Security Governance Consultant in the UK to shape governance by developing robust frameworks and aligning structures with regulatory expectations. You will embed secure-by-design principles, assess workforce requirements, and lead the creation of governance policies and controls.

Work involves collaborating across functions, engaging with executives, and mentoring key personnel within governance functions to ensure resilient, compliant operations.

Qualifications

• Proven track record in cybersecurity risk and governance transformations.
• Deep knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001, CIS Controls) and regulatory obligations.
• Experience designing and implementing cybersecurity governance structures from the ground up.
• Strong analytical and strategic thinking to assess risks and influence change.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement effective cyber governance structures and risk management processes.
• Develop organisational models that strengthen governance and streamline cybersecurity operations.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to embed cybersecurity into governance frameworks.
• Propose workforce structures and SQEP requirements for steady-state operations.
• Define, monitor, and report metrics to measure governance effectiveness.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives and mentor governance personnel.
• Ensure policies and controls comply with standards (NCSC, ISO 27001, NIST, CIS Controls).
• Identify, assess and manage risks to goals and strategy.
• Align with executives, boards and external partners for clear decision-making.
