Job summary

Milton Keynes City Council is seeking an ICT Security Analyst to join the ICT service in Milton Keynes. The ICT Security team protects the council's systems, data and digital services to keep operations secure and reliable for residents.

You will help set security policies, standards and guidance, manage cyber risk, and support secure delivery across services and technology change. The role will monitor for threats, lead incident response, deliver cyber security awareness and collaborate with

Qualifications

• Degree-level qualification in a relevant field.
• Experience with Microsoft Defender, Sentinel, Entra ID and Copilot for Security.
• Strong written and verbal communication to explain risks to non-technical audiences.
• Experience with PowerShell or KQL; some Python coding.
• Cyber security certifications such as CCSP, CySA+, GCIA, CSA, SC-200.
• Experience in enterprise information security in a large organization.
• Experience securing Microsoft 365 services (SharePoint, Teams, Copilot).
• Knowledge of security frameworks (NIST, ISO27001, Cyber Essentials).

Responsibilities

• Monitor ICT services for cyber threats and vulnerabilities.
• Triage and investigate security alerts and events.
• Assess and prioritize security risks; document vulnerabilities.
• Lead response to ICT security incidents per IR plans.
• Collaborate on security projects with MKCC and suppliers.
• Deliver cyber security awareness and guidance to colleagues.
• Provide reporting on security incidents, risks, trends.
• Stay updated on Microsoft security products and best practices.
