Focus Group | Managed Security Services

Location : Hybrid from Shoreham, Exeter, Birmingham, Manchester or Carlisle

Salary : £35,000 to £37,500 + Benefits

Help UK businesses achieve security certification that matters

We're looking for a technically-capable, customer-focused security professional to join our growing Managed Security Services team. If you enjoy translating complex security requirements into practical action and helping businesses strengthen their defences, this role offers genuine impact and variety.

What you'll actually do

As a Cyber Essentials Analyst, you'll guide businesses through achieving Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus certification – the UK Government-backed security standards that matter to organisations across every sector.

Your days will involve assessing customer IT environments against the five core security controls, spotting gaps, recommending fixes, and helping coordinate the work needed to get clients certification-ready. You'll work directly with customers, explaining what needs to change and why it matters, whilst collaborating with our engineering and support teams when more complex technical work is required.

This isn't about ticking boxes. You'll help customers understand their security posture, identify risks, and build defences that go beyond minimum compliance. You'll prepare evidence packs for IASME assessors, support CE+ audits, and become a trusted advisor who customers genuinely value.

What you'll bring

You'll need :

  • Real experience in IT infrastructure, systems administration, cybersecurity operations, or managed services
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Azure administration (tenant config, conditional access, security features)
  • Hands‑on experience with endpoint protection and patch management platforms like Microsoft Intune or Datto RMM
  • Understanding of network architecture, firewalls, and perimeter security
  • Familiarity with malware protection platforms such as Bitdefender, Microsoft Defender, or EDR / antivirus solutions
  • The ability to explain technical security concepts clearly to non‑technical audiences
  • Excellent organisational skills with meticulous documentation habits
  • A calm, professional approach when juggling multiple client engagements
We’d love if you also have
  • Direct Cyber Essentials or CE+ assessment experience
  • Knowledge of ISO 27001, SOC2, or the NCSC Cyber Assessment Framework
  • Certifications like CompTIA Security+, Microsoft SC-900, or IASME Practitioner
  • Experience with ServiceNow or similar ITSM platforms
  • Exposure to SOC services, SIEM platforms, or MDR / EDR / XDR solutions
Where this could take you

This role opens doors across our security practice. Whether you're drawn to senior assurance work, security consulting, SOC operations, cyber engineering, technical account management, or team leadership – we'll support your growth in the direction that excites you.

About Focus Group

We're a UK-based managed service provider and Microsoft technology partner with around 1,300 colleagues, backed by HG Capital. Our Managed Security Services division is expanding rapidly as more organisations recognise that cyber resilience isn't optional anymore.

You’ll join a collaborative environment where technical expertise is valued, customer relationships matter, and your contribution makes a tangible difference to businesses trying to navigate an increasingly complex threat landscape.
