Job summary

Teledyne E2V in Chelmsford seeks a Customs Compliance specialist to support import/export processes in line with UK/EU laws and Teledyne policies. You will work with stakeholders to maintain compliant procedures and train teams.

The role involves handling HTS classifications, origin qualification, and recordkeeping, with opportunities to influence improvements and participate in audits across Teledyne sites.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of UK & EU customs laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Support local shipping team with customs-related questions.
  • Ensure import/export compliance per laws and Teledyne policies.
  • Assist in maintaining and documenting customs procedures and records.
  • Provide quarterly and yearly compliance reporting and training.
  • Support trade investigations and other Teledyne sites as needed.

Job Description

This position requires a basic understanding of customs compliance regulations and day‑to‑day customs operations. The role will support local customs compliance activities for the assigned location and work closely with internal stakeholders, with guidance and oversight from senior compliance personnel. The individual will also play a key role in driving efforts to create a positive and inclusive work environment and culture across the site.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Ensure effective import and export compliance processes and practices at Teledyne E2V in Chelmsford, in accordance with domestic and foreign trade laws and regulations and Teledyne Technologies corporate customs compliance policies and procedures.
  • Support the Customs Compliance officer to implement elements of the customs compliance program, including import control touchpoints, functional instructions, and other documentation such as HTS classification, country of origin, FTA eligibility, valuation, export requirements, forwarding agent management, recordkeeping, audits, and training.
  • Review and validate customs entries for accuracy and compliance with customs regulations and CITC policies and procedures.
  • Manage Inward Processing Relief for multiple sites.
  • Provide quarterly and yearly reporting, conduct regular customs compliance training for functional groups, and conduct periodic audits and self‑audits and implement corrective action as required.
  • Assist in trade investigations and provide support to other Teledyne sites as required.
Key Skills And Competencies Required
  • Knowledge of UK & EU customs laws and regulations.
  • Experience in utilizing the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), proper valuation methods, classification documentation, preferential origin qualification, and customs special procedures.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Experience with collecting and analyzing data and preparing concise reports.
  • Knowledge of industry practices.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to solve complex problems using collaborative techniques.
