Job summary

A.F. Blakemore & Son Ltd are hiring a SPAR Customer Team Member at Conwy. The role requires flexible, part-time hours with shifts from mornings (7-3) to evenings (3-11).

You will support store management, deliver excellent customer service, and help drive sales through efficient tills, stock management and promotional displays. The position offers a permanent contract with minimum 16 hours per week, a comprehensive benefits package, and opportunities for internal progression within the SPAR

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar role or retail environment preferred.
• Reliable and detail-oriented with ability to follow procedures.
• Understanding of retail policies and security controls (e.g., Challenge 25) is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers in a friendly manner and assist with product inquiries.
• Process purchases accurately at tills and promote relevant offers.
• Stock shelves, check deliveries, and maintain clean, organized shop floor.
• Date check, stock and price updates, and promotional displays as required.
• Adhere to company policies and procedures across store operations.

We have an exciting opportunity for a SPAR Customer Team Member. As a Customer Team Member at SPAR Conwy, you will play a vital role in supporting our store management team and creating a positive customer experience. You will assist in maximising sales and profit by carrying out allocated tasks in order to contribute to the continuous improvement of the store, ensuring great customer service, through ‘Brilliant Basics, Moments of Wow, Food for later and Food for now!’

Key Tasks/Responsibilities:

Customer Service:

• Greeting customers in a friendly and welcoming manner.
• Answering customer inquiries about products and services and assisting customers in finding the items they need.
• Processing customer purchases efficiently and accurately through the tills, maintaining a positive and friendly service
• Upselling selected products to customers and highlighting multi-buy offers, to ensure maximum sales at our ConwySPAR store
  Store Operations:
• Working stock; checking deliveries, stocking shelves, maintaining a clean and organised sales floor, rotating stock to ensure freshness and timely expiration dates.
• Completing additional assigned tasks, such as date checking, stock and gap checking, price changes, promotional displays and other tasks as required from time to time.
• Adhering to all company policies and procedures and processes.

Key Skills/Knowledge:

• Previous experience in a similar role and/or industry is preferred
• Reliably follows instructions and procedures with excellent attention to detail
• Some understanding of legislative responsibilities of a retail environment and the skills to assist with adherence
• Ability to contribute ideas for delivering exceptional customer service and driving the business forward
• Experience of using a ‘Challenge 25’ policy desirable
• Keen and enthusiastic approach to working both in a team and independently
• Previous cash handling experience is preferred but not essential
