Customer Service Representative / Greeter

Do you have excellent customer service experience and are looking for a new role? We are recruiting Customer Service Representatives to work for an international organisation in a temporary, on‐going position. The successful candidate should have excellent customer service skills and be well presented.

The role pays £12.94 per hour and is based in Battersea, a short walk from Vauxhall station. Working hours are Monday to Friday, 7:00 am–3:30 pm on site. Please ensure you check your travel plans before applying.

You will need to go through a strict vetting process that can take several months. A start date will be agreed after clearance is passed and candidates must be able to commit fully if successful after interview. This role could also become a stand‑by position.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the lines of applicants on site into half‑hour time blocks according to appointment times.
  • Separate applicants with special appointments.
  • Work one hour each day outside greeting applicants/visitors.
  • Maintain control over lines and entry of applicants into the Visa/Mission pavilion or waiting room.
  • Distribute applications to the public, taking into account nationality and additional paperwork requirements.
  • Check all applications to ensure they are complete.
  • Lifting boxes of documents for transportation.
  • Remind the public of the total time required and enforce that they do not leave the pavilion or waiting room (if applicable).
  • Give preferential service to applicants with mental or physical handicaps to avoid excessive waiting.
  • Provide information assistance to the pavilion‑visiting public as necessary.
  • Treat the public fairly and professionally.
  • Respond to crowd control emergencies and alert Mission guards as appropriate.
  • Keep the uniform clean and properly fitted.
  • Maintain a pleasant and positive attitude when dealing with the public.
  • Adhere to the security rules established by the Mission.
  • Be alert to evidence of fraud and report to the supervisory Greeter or Operations Manager.
  • Take action to improve service as necessary.
  • Investigate the validity of customer complaints and advise the supervisory Greeter or Operations Manager.
  • Receive training and become knowledgeable in consular information services as required.
  • Work outdoors periodically (one 4‑hour shift every 2‑3 days) to organise queues; suitable uniform will be provided.
  • Stand in the main embassy pavilion for extended periods, approaching applicants to direct and support them.
