Customer Service Assistant

Pay: £13.26 per hr, 37 hours per week

Working hours: Monday - Thursday 8.45am - 5pm and Friday 8.45am - 4.30pm

Location: Awry House site in Wisbech - fully on site - no hybrid working

Length: 3 months - start date - mid January

Opus People Solutions are recruiting on behalf of Cambridgeshire County Council for a temporary Customer Service Assistant to join their Customer Services team at Wisbech.

As a Customer Service Assistant you will provide a professional, welcoming, and efficient front‑line reception and multi‑channel customer service to the public and visitors, while supporting the wider Customer Services team with administrative tasks. Take ownership of enquiries and aim to resolve them at the first point of contact by using online resources, collaborating with colleagues, and working with Cambridgeshire County Council services and partner agencies. Ensure every interaction is customer‑focused, accurate, and delivered to a high standard.

The successful candidate will ideally have customer service background with proven experience of interacting with customers face to face, online and by telephone, able to communicate effectively and confidently, both verbally and in writing, with a strong commitment to delivering excellent customer service and treating all customers with dignity, sensitivity, and respect. Good IT skills and able to utilise IT systems accurately to deliver services.

Interviews will be held either in person or via MS Teams, DBS check will be carried out prior to start, along with completed 3 years reference history. Candidates will need to commit to mid‑January start.
